SEANA Diemer IWANYK, LMFT

Hello there.
I'm Seana Diemer Iwanyk.

Licensed Marriage &
Family Therapist

We all have a story, but when we become burned out by the various challenges of life, it can cause us to lose sight of who we are, what we want, and where we are going. Stories help us understand ourselves and our world, and I have spent my life consuming, creating, and working with stories I love. I collaborate with clients to help them untangle the threads of their narrative when the overwhelming pressures they face lead to the burnout cascade of anxiety, depression, relational problems, and compassion fatigue.

My extensive training and passion for a wide range of therapeutic modalities allows me to provide treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each client. I use a combination of humanistic, trauma-centered, Gestalt, family systems, Person-Centered, and CBT approaches, and am receiving ongoing training in Parts and Somatic work.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in the entertainment industry for nearly a decade in talent agency, studio, and production company settings. I collaborated closely with writers, directors, actors, and executives in high-stress, fast-paced environments and was particularly passionate about helping creatives craft and crack story. My jump to therapy was clear—bringing the best script to life often involved deeply understanding the person underneath. My hope is to work in collaboration with you to help you find your narrative once again.

An LA native, I attended the University of California Berkeley, where I majored in Psychology, specializing in self-esteem and working with inmates at San Quentin. I obtained my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California with a focus on LGBTQIA+ populations and trauma-informed care. I completed an internship working with court-mandated clients from marginalized communities and spent my post-grad work specializing in trauma-informed care (including certification in TF-CBT) with children, teens, and young adults in the foster care system.

I specialize in working with burnout, especially in creatives, LGBTQIA+ populations, and “former gifted kids.” I also work with life transitions, couples, gender identity/presentation, ethical non-monogamy, trauma, grief, and anxiety/mood disorders.
